DVLA

Hi, I had been seizure free for 6 yrs after being put on Lamotrigine and having my dose upped, so taking 1 tablet in the morning and 1 in the evening. Well, last week I forgot to take Thurs PM and Fri AM... and as a result ended up having a seizure just before leaving work on Friday! I called DVLA and the girl I spoke with (who is just customer service and only really knows what to say from instructions)... said I had to be seizure free for 12 months. I explained the situation with the tablets and she still said 12 months. My Dr has written to Neurology and I am currently waiting to find out what they have said, but was just wondering if anyone has been in my situation. I will be ok if they say 3 months, if any... and would even cope with 6... but I do not agree it should be 12, and will be DEVASTATED if this is what they tell me. 🙁

  1. Hi I can understand your frustration. Each state has different laws, check out this article- it has a link to the Epilepsy Foundation's database which should hopefully help answer your question: https://epilepsydisease.com/driving. I hope your doctor can help in some way. Please keep us posted with how you are doing. Jill (Team Member)
