Eyelid fluttering

Hi everyone!

I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy 10 years ago and have been on 200mg of Lamictal twice a day since then. Last year, I started having really bad myoclonic jerks. I started seeing a new neurologist last October and he prescribed me a small dose of Klonopin as well to help with the jerks. It worked for a while, but a couple of months ago, I started having more jerks than normal again. He had me increase the Klonopin a little. I’ve been getting headaches recently and I’ve noticed a lot of sensitivity to my eyes (light irritates them when it didn’t before and I sometimes get dizzy if I move my eyes to the side without moving my head). I told him about the dizziness at my last visit but he didn’t seem concerned about it. Tonight, I felt really weird (something I just can’t put into words) and when I laid down to close my eyes, I had some major eyelid fluttering that I couldn’t stop. That has happened a couple of times before, but this was pretty bad. Is this something I should tell him about or just monitor? I feel like after he wasn’t concerned about the dizziness when I move my eyes, he’ll think I’m just being overly concerned. Thanks!

  1. hi, I want to sincerely apologize for the delay in response! How have you been doing? Has your dizziness or eyelid fluttering improved? I think you are right in letting your doctor know about these new symptoms. I’m sorry that it sounds like he brushed them off before. If it is concerning to you, which is completely valid, then it is worth mentioning. You know your body best, never feel wrong for advocating for yourself! I hope you are doing well💙. All my best, Julie (team member)
