Advice writing realistic portrayal of epilepsy

I've recently gotten it into my head to write a story with a protagonist that has epilepsy, and I want to be sure I'm writing an accurate portrayal of this awful disease. I'd love to find someone to talk to and run ideas by, as no one I know has this condition. I'm in no way trying to profit off of this story or trying to romanticize this condition, I just want it to be respectful and educational.

  1. Hi I am glad to hear you want to write a story and you want to do the research first so that your story is accurate. We have a couple Community Rules that we need to be careful of, which include: for the safety of our community members activity cannot contain any personal information such as an e-mail address, physical/mailing address, or phone number, so directly contacting members is not permitted. And, we do not allow users to offer to sell, barter, or trade any items in any way. This includes solicitations to participate in legal actions, fundraisers, offers to sell a product or service or participate in surveys, studies, invitations to join closed/private groups, etc., without the prior approval from Health Union. Having said all of that, I am hoping I can help give you an accurate view by sharing these articles: https://epilepsydisease.com/living/live-a-normal-life-with-epilepsy, https://epilepsydisease.com/living/misunderstood and https://epilepsydisease.com/living/epilepsy-jealousy-acceptance. Good luck with your story. Jill (Team Member)
