seizures are back after Retirement

74 Male. Seizure free for almost 40 years. Diagnosed at age 16. When I retired at 70, I started having breakthrough seizures. I am on Mysoline (generic) and Dilantin. These two drugs, help me live a normal life, but now that drugs are not working as well as they did when I was younger thinking about going to newer drugs. But my neurologist is telling me that mysoline will have serious withdrawals.

I have also started having anemia because of the dilantin side effects. What do I do now?

  1. Hi this must be so frustrating for you. I really hope your doctor can help you with the withdrawals of medication and help you find a new medication that can help (they should be helping you with treating your anemia as well). If you feel your doctor is not listening or helping, I would suggest getting a second opinion. It is so important that you feel heard. Please keep us posted. Jill (Team Member)
