Coming out of a tonic clonic seizure

Good morning- I’ve been thinking about the postictal state we experience after a seizure. I remember my first seizure being extremely terrifying because I “came to” with paramedics and at least six others staring intently at me with panic on their faces. My point here is— I experience a shorter and less severe postictal state when I wake up to a caretaker or two, but not a circus. I know people want to help, but the shock and reality of looking up into a throng of panicked faces is unsettling to say the least. But, then again, the best help in the world is the help that’s available.
Thanks for letting me vent.

  1. Hi I am sure that must have been terrifying to come to with so many people staring at you with panic in their eyes. As it is, I am sure you are already scared and confused. You make a great point about waking up to someone you trust and know, than to an unusual place with many faces. You are welcome to share and vent whenever you need! Our community gets it, and we are so glad you have this space to openly talk. Jill (Team Member)
