I have had experience with biofeedback AKA neurofeedback around 2010. I did have limited success with it but not enough to justify the expense. Every since the VR goggles have become more affordable, I have been curious to know if there are any type of programs that would be beneficial to assist people with cognition issues - not just epilepsy. This includes various forms of "self help" subjects as well. I did find some programs that are very beneficial. Even a licensed mental health professional was impressed with the program/software that I downloaded and use. He and his colleagues are beginning to use and implement this themselves. This program welcomes the feedback of licensed mental health professionals so it's not just "snake oil" treatment. For what it's worth, I purchased the base model of VR glasses for about $300. Has anyone else discovered good programs that can be used with VR goggles?
Yes, I know I know, people are going to warn about the "flashing lights". Obviously, people who are impacted by flashing lights shouldn't use VR goggles. But we shouldn't dismiss the potential benefits that this relatively inexpensive technology can have on those who are not photosensitive. Regardless if it's epilepsy, other cognitive issues, or for those who simply want to relieve stress, increase concentration, or simply improve their own cognition, this format can be beneficial.
Do your own research on the available programs/downloads. I'm not mentioning any names in particular because I don't want to appear that I'm trying to sell anything. I'm just passing on what I've discovered for myself.
