Symptoms after nocturnal seizure

Hi All, 47, F.
I've had nocturnal seizures for a couple of years now and they're mostly manageable with medication. I live on my own, so it's sometimes hard to know I've had a seizure except for the after effects like waking up confused with short term memory loss of the days and weeks before, brain fog and muscle stiffness (oh, and a raw tongue). Recently I've had two rather severe seizures and I wanted to ask: does anyone else get a waking after effect of video clips (too short to ID) playing in your head on repeat for a few days after the seizure? No usable memory of the days before, but these random clips flashing by?

  1. Hi Belinda, I'm in a similar situation as you - I'm 48, but Male, and had nocturnal seizures only (9 of them in total) occurred over the last 18 years. It was considered to be from a head injury in 2001. Anyway.... I don't believe I have anything like you describe after my seizures, over the next few days. Although, as expected, things are a little hazy. I'm absolutely gutted, as this week (48 hours ago) I had my 10th ever seizure, however, it was at 3pm while I was working at my desk, fully awake. It has slightly freaked me out, as I've never experience a preceding 'Aura' of any kind (usually fast asleep). But this time I knew something was going wrong, so I was able to shout to my wife in the next room, who was able to come watch over me while I entered the seizure part. Apart from being a bit sore still, I am feeling pretty low to be honest. Will need to hand my drivers licence in for 12 months, which as a family man with teenage kids, it hurts. Happy to talk to you more, if you ever want to chat to someone else in a similar (but I appreciate not identical) position to you. It's important to realise that we are not 'alone' in this (although sometimes it really feels like you are!). All the best, Matt

  2. Hi I wanted to follow up on your post and see how you are doing? Has your doctor been able to help you with your symptoms? I really hope you are feeling better. Jill (Team Member)

  3. Yes, same situation. I empathize deeply.
