Recent tonic clonic, worst one yet.

Hi I'm new here and would like to share a bit. I'm a 51 year old male had my first seizure not long before my 50th birthday, was diagnosed with epilepsy not long after that. I've had 6 tonic clonics since then.

It turned my life upside down. I get frightening auras a few seconds before it happens, but at least I get a warning it's coming.
I wasn't so lucky with my last one however, happened on Sunday, today is tuesday. it came on pretty quick and I was standing in the kitchen..hit my head a few times falling down, hit the fridge ,painful bumps on my head and pulled a muscle in my neck....this is besides all the aches and pains from the convulsions.
I'm taking Epilim cr 500mg twice daily, but I missed my morning dose that Sunday.
Second day off work now as I have some psychosis and severe depression and I'm not able to make sense of things, i just slept yesterday. my job involves a lot of driving ,physical work/installations, today i have trouble lifting my legs to get my shoes on...I feel a bit bad I'm not working but I'm sick and my work place is toxic , so it's the last place I need to be atm.

I'm fortunate I've had all the seizures at home, but I'm terrified I'll have one elsewhere, say for example riding my motorcyle, robbing me of my peace and lifes joys. We unfortunately don't have epilepsy disabililty where I'm from so it's not good. The other seizures were pretty bad but this last one really disturbed me. Hope you all are doing ok. Thanks for listening.

  1. Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with epilepsy. It sounds like you've been through a lot, especially with your recent seizure. It's important to prioritize your health and safety, so taking time off work to recover and manage your health is completely understandable.

It's concerning that you experienced a seizure while standing in the kitchen. Missing your morning dose of medication might have contributed to this, so it could be helpful to set reminders or find strategies to remember your doses and get a pill box.

It might be beneficial to discuss the added difficulties of depression and psychosis with your healthcare provider. So you can have additional support or adjustments to your treatment plan.

It's understandable to feel anxious about having seizures in different situations, like riding your motorcycle or driving. Being proactive about safety measures and avoiding high-risk activities when you're not feeling well could help reduce these concerns. Pay attention to your body. Having an aura is a warning before the seizure. If you don't have an aura just pay attention to how you feel.

Remember, you're not alone in this.
