Frightened to leave

Only recently have I been diagnosed with epilepsy one of my triggers is periods! After 12 seizures in 3 months I’ve finally got a diagnoses but waiting on medication..I’m scared to leave the house as I get auras all the time and I’m forgetting more everyday, I feel lonely and I’m nearly 18 this should be my peak in life and it’s quite literally doing the opposite…😞

  1. I’m in a similar position. I feel my auras most of the day now, and I stress out just thinking about leaving the house.
Working with my neurologist to adjust my meds is a big help. I hope you find meds that work for you soon.

Finding a new normal can be demoralizing. It may take some time to adjust, but keep working at it!
If you’re feeling up to it, you can try going on very short walks outside your home (even if it’s only 20 feet or so). You might be more comfortable if you take a friend with you. That’s what I’m trying, and it seems to help.

    1. Hi , take a deep breath . It's okay to be scared , it's also important to express how you feel to your health care provider, make sure your journal your good and bad days , any unusual side effects of medication etc , and take that journal to every appointment, whether on phone or to the doctors office . The journal especially helps in case you forget something, it also helps the doctor / neurologist give you the proper care , designed for only you !
You are amazing & you are going to be okay.
