I am more than my epilepsy

I had a stroke and my first 2 seizures when I was 17, days away from turning 18. This happened on thanksgiving morning back in 2010 at about 2:30a.m. and it was definitely something no one expected to happen. I was 22 1/2 weeks pregnant and the stroke put me into a coma for 1 1/2 weeks and the next week I spent in rehabilitation while my stay in the hospital. I had forgotten if my baby was a boy or a girl when I found out the week before that I was having a girl. It was a devastating time and I had to have blood released off my brain so they drilled a pin hole in my right side of my brain and put a thin piece of tube down in my brain to release all the extra blood that was causing pressure on my head. It was definitely scary and very frightening. When I came to and out of the coma I had started baby talking, not able to walk and couldn’t remember much and became very upset seeing some of my hair shaved due to the pin hole they had to do. This was the most scariest thing I had been through in my life and I just have to say I am very grateful to still be here with my children and after my first child I had 2 more babies. During the month of November I like to speak about my journey and figured I’d share it here with this community. I do suffer from short term memory loss now, but I thrive daily to spend more special moments with my children and my own family I have today.
