The ER last year was the first place I encountered such harmful accusation. I’ve read similar stories everywhere. Years ago. Does not need to be ER related. Curious how often this occurred in others. Only if comfortable sharing.
I understand how personal your stories are.
Wanted to share my experience. Second of June 2024 was my turn. Sounded like my husband described a horror film.
Bear with me it’s long. I’ve listed it under a couple of comments. I’m new to this website. You can look up an eye condition called optic nerve hypoplasia. The hormonal and neurological complexities plus other bonuses.
June: Euphoria, vertigo, difficulty walking bad balance. Strange phrases in my husband‘s car. Example weirdos are your best friends. We got there, slurred speech. Difficulty walking.
Nurses were nice. Doctor kept yelling at my husband because she wanted to speak to me. They were arguing. I was disoriented.
Refused to check April EEG, which showed signs of generalized seizure outburst.
She got upset because I said the F word. Immediately said it’s psychological she is intoxicated. Seems like she took the accidental F word a little too personal don’t you think? I was unaware. When proven wrong, she got aggressive.
My husband said when I tried resting it continuously looked like I was getting electrocuted limbs, sometimes the entire body. Later a focal impaired awareness developed into a tonic clonic seizure.
Angry woman focused on how I couldn’t get up to use the bathroom. I woke up later. Right side of my tongue and inner cheek were messed up. Emergency bell twice. She came in 10 minutes later agitated we have monitor machines
He said when resting, he followed her, checked the room. No machines. She tried a CT scan. Not possible injected me with a sedative. I got shivers and started shaking. Couldn’t control the spasms. Also gave the same medication I was taking back then(valproate.)
Husband took a plastic bag, hid meds. Lied to her about taking them. So we could go elsewhere. Although poor balance, I was able to walk.
July: different hospital, cerebral hypoxia, more seizures, mini stroke, and the nerves in the limbs were re-stimulated. Summary of 2 separate stays in July. Thankfully, no psychological accusations. That hospital did an EEG the entire day. Right side of my body there’s numbness. Peripheral nervous system.
Epilepsy Center:
He explained this in August to the epileptologist. Clarifying my husband’s description. Most likely myoclonic seizures. The severity of changes in hormones and influence outcome of medical intolerance. Questions if some of those seizures would not have occurred if she took the situation seriously. Who knows. It’s unpredictable.
He said it was good I did not take the medication or it would’ve put me in the hospital within a few hours again. Also mentioned if I had my menstrual cycle in June instead of July. A more severe outcome. While July was better. I’ll never forget that June incident. Or the words of the epileptologist.
What happened if the sedative was injected in the morning after the medical reaction? What if I had my cycle and needed oxygen? Probably wouldn’t provide a mask.
Ending with a more positive update. Between August and February, did not have any seizures September October, or December. It’s quite rare for me.
Refusing to listen to the advocate is a red flag. Someone abusing power of authority. We can spread awareness, however, those who believe they are always right refuse to listen. Sorry for the book. You all take care.
