Epilepsy and Menstruation

Ladies, I’ve been living epilepsy for 16 years and I’ve learned we are prone to seizures near or during our monthly cycles. The estrogen gets dumped in our blood and dissolve medications quicker. If you’re not medicated please keep a schedule of your monthly cycle so you know when you may be prone to seizures.

  1. If your seizures appear more often during your cycle there is a name for such seizures so have a look at your Epilepsy Association.
I became interested as I used to get them when ovulating or during my cycle. However, for many years now, since reaching the menopause I feel so much better and if they appear at all they are only light but most of the time I can control them. The same happened to my mother who did have violent migraines until she reached the menopause.
    So good luck
