Are there certain situations that lead to your seizures? We call these seizure triggers. And the truth is, they're different for everyone.
Of course, skipping doses of epilepsy meds is a top trigger. So maintaining a solid medication routine is key. And flashing lights? That's probably one of the most widely known seizure triggers – but in fact, not nearly as common as people may think it is. (Photosensitivity affects about 3 in 100 people with epilepsy.)
So what about all the other seizure triggers? Ones you may not even realize could be connected to epilepsy, or others that are a part of everyday life? Identifying our triggers can help us better manage our seizures – and our peace of mind.
